Here is an update on JavaFX and what’s coming up from InfoQ.com – JavaFX: Current Status and What’s Upcoming . Here is one quote from the article:

“It is obviously possible to write rich, dynamic GUI applications now using the Swing and Java 2D libraries of Java, but it is not necessarily easy to do so.”

I noted something similar in this post. Swing is a good technology for building user interface but it’s challenging. One of the main ideas behind JavaFX is to make it simple to develop rich user interfaces with Java.
