In-person meetup
We hosted an in-person Okta Workflows community meetup at Okta headquarters on May 7, 2025. Over 30 Workflows community members learned about what’s new in Workflows, chatted with other community members, and enjoyed delicious Mediterranean food.
After folks chatted and grabbed food, we started with four talks:
- Using Slack’s interactivity APIs in Okta Workflows with Pete Viri (Staff IAM Security Engineer, Compass)
- Okta Workflows Roadmap with Emily Wendell (Senior Product Manager, Okta)
- Identity Without Limits: Using Anything-as-a-Source in Okta Workflows with Michele Ferrari (Principal Technical Account Manager, Okta)
- Turbocharge Okta Workflows with OpenAI Assistants with Ajay Seetharam (Principal Solutions Architect, Okta)
To begin, Pete demonstrated creating interactive responses with checkboxes and buttons inside Slack messages that trigger a flow. For instance, you can have Approve and Deny buttons that trigger a Workflows automation.

In the second talk, Emily shared what’s coming up in Workflows. Several new exciting capabilities will be available later this year:
- Editor
- Better flow visibility with collapse cards
- Minimap: a small window to see the entire flow and to navigate
- Inline iterator: process lists directly in a flow (without a helper flow)
- Security
- Adding RBAC (Role-Based Access Controls) to folders and connections
- Hiding sensitive data with Sensitive Data Controls
- Performance and insight
- Audit flow execution history and monitor performance across all workflows at once

Next, Michele demonstrated how to import user identities from any data source using the Anything-as-a-Source capability available in Workflows.

To wrap things up, Ajay demonstrated leveraging an OpenAI assistant to accomplish complex tasks in identity automation, which was a crowd favorite!

Online meetup
We understand not everyone is in San Francisco and couldn’t join us. So, we are repeating the talks online, so anyone can join live or watch a recording. Attend the Okta Workflows Community Online Meetup on Wednesday, June 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM PT.
