Highlights from the Okta Workflows Community Meetup

We hosted Okta Workflows meetup at Okta headquarters on November 18, 2025. Over 35 Workflows community members met to learn what’s coming up, talk with peers about identity automation, and share a meal.

The meetup started sharing all the available educational Okta Workflows resources:

Then, Akanksha Bawa from Okta shared what’s new and what’s on the roadmap for Okta Workflows.

Several new capabilities are on the roadmap:

  • Workflows on Dedicated Infrastructure: Single-tenant architecture offering increased throughput and relaxed system limits for heavy automation needs.
  • Role-Based Access Control for Folders: A granular security feature in Okta Workflows that enables the assignment of specific user roles to individual folders.
  • Sensitive Data Controls: Flag input and output fields as sensitive to hide sensitive information from less privileged users without having to turn off Execution History.
  • Flow versioning: Audit and revert capabilities.

Next up, we had two Workflows community speakers.

Andy Dolinger demonstrated two automation SiriusXM built using Okta Workflows:

  • Automating proactive password expiration notifications.
  • Automated inactive account remediation.

Next, Dylan Barker shared the Okta Workflows automation they built at Stack Solutions:

  • Use API pagination to iterate through a large number of Okta records.
  • Enable admins to troubleshoot Delegated Flow errors using an email API to avoid escalations.

To wrap things up, Michele Ferrari from Okta demonstrated password migration with inline hooks and Okta Workflows:

  • Zero-friction migration: users continue to log in with their existing credentials.
  • Gradual migration: no bulk export/import of all passwords at once.
  • Improve adoption and reduce support tickets (no “forgot password” storm).
  • Leverage Okta extensibility (Inline Hooks + Workflows) instead of custom code.

We understand not everyone was able to attend the San Francisco meetup, but no worries—on December 10, 2025, we will repeat the talks with a live online meetup. You can also watch the meetup recording on the Okta Workflows YouTube playlist (one day after the live event).
